The Colorbond Fence Rail is the horizontal steel member that runs between your fence posts, holding your infill sheets in position and giving the entire fence its structural rigidity. Without quality rails, even the best posts and panels will sag, flex, or fail over time.
These rails are manufactured from genuine BlueScope Colorbond steel — the same pre-painted, corrosion-resistant steel trusted on Australian roofs and fences for decades. The factory-applied paint finish bonds directly to the steel, meaning it won’t chip, peel, or rust the way painted-after-manufacture alternatives can.
Choose from two standard lengths:
– 2360mm — suits standard fence bays with posts spaced at approximately 2.4m centres (the most common residential configuration)
– 3120mm — suits wider bays or commercial applications where posts are spaced further apart
For a standard 1.8m high Colorbond fence, use 3 rails per bay: one at the top, one in the middle, and one at the bottom. To calculate how many rails you need, multiply your total number of bays by 3.
Example: 10-bay fence = 30 rails

For a standard 1.8m high Colorbond fence, you need 3 rails per bay — one at the top, one in the middle, and one near the bottom. To calculate your total, count the number of bays in your fence (number of posts minus one) and multiply by 3. For example, 8 posts = 7 bays = 21 rails.
The difference is the length of each rail. 2360mm rails are designed for fence bays with posts set at approximately 2.4m centres — the standard spacing for most residential Colorbond fences. 3120mm rails suit wider bays where posts are set further apart, common in commercial or rural applications. These are genuine BlueScope Colorbond steel rails. The Colorbond name is a registered trademark of BlueScope Steel and can only be used on products made from authentic BlueScope steel. Using genuine Colorbond rails ensures your colour matches your panels and posts and that the corrosion resistance meets the manufacturer’s standard.
No. Colorbond steel comes with a factory-applied paint finish that is bonded to the steel during manufacturing. It does not require painting, sealing, or any other surface treatment before or after installation.
These rails are compatible with Colorbond C posts (channel posts) and standard 50×50 or 65×65 RHS square posts. If you are using C posts, the rail slots directly into the channel. If you are using square posts, you will need a rail bracket to attach the rail to the post face.

Delivery
We offer delivery across Brisbane and South East Queensland. Delivery timeframes and pricing depend on your location and the size of your order. Large or bulk orders of rails may require a flat-bed or pallet delivery — our team will confirm the best delivery option for your order at checkout or by phone.

Free pickup is available from two locations:

Select your preferred pickup store at checkout. Orders must be collected within 3 business days. You will receive a notification when your order is ready.
Returns — change of mind
If you have ordered the wrong size, colour, or quantity, we accept change-of-mind returns within 14 days of purchase, provided:
- Items are unused and undamaged
- Items are in their original condition and packaging
- You have your original invoice
To initiate a return, contact us by phone or email with your invoice number. All returns must be authorised before being sent back to our warehouse. Return freight costs for change-of-mind returns are the responsibility of the customer.
Damaged or incorrect items
If your order arrives damaged or you receive the wrong product, contact us within 48 hours of delivery with your invoice number and photos of the issue. We will arrange a replacement or refund at no cost to you.
